Term 2 2021

Term 2 will run from Monday 19th April until Saturday 26th June with a range of classes from Beginners to Advanced, as well as Tribal Fusion style and Folklore classes.

Normal classes are resuming, with the Monday evening classes on Zoom for those who want to do a catch up or are unable to make it to a live class.

We realise that while many things are settling into normality, Bellydance Kizmet still asks that you be aware of the ongoing potential Covid situation. If you are unwell or have any concerns about being in contact with a possible Covid carrier, we ask that you take all the necessary care and avoid coming to class until you are clear. We will do our best at Bellydance Kizmet to be supportive to those who are struggling.

Covid safe practices are used in all classes.

We are offering 2x Short Courses and 3x Technique clinics this Term.  One of the Short Courses is a Saidi dance,  the other is a Pop choreography to which we can add zills if desired. Short Courses are all taught on multi-levels.

Technique clinics are refresher sessions or a good start to new techniques and ideas to ensure we are moving safely and widening our dance horizons. Suitable for all levels, as we start at the basics and move quickly to add new refinements and variations.

See the Term 2 2021 timetable below for full details.

Class Descriptions

What Style Do We Teach?
In the beginning all classes learn a general form of Egyptian dance, with a focus on technique and applying them in a choreography. At the higher levels we begin the Egyptian style which has a strong abdominal focus, with more intricate moves and combinations. Choreography plays a greater role in the class structure. All classes will learn to use a variety of props – veils, canes, and zills (finger cymbals). Other props such as isis wings, fan veils and sword may be taught if the class wishes.
Specialist classes in American Tribal style and many of the Folklore styles from the Middle East are also offered.

What should I wear to class?
Leotard or fitting top with leggings / gympants.
Footwear is optional – bare-feet, jiffies or flat dance shoes or are preferred.
Whatever you wear, ensure you feel comfortable.

For class descriptions please see our class timetable.
